Guide
How to find a SIL vacancy in Adelaide
By Complete Choice · Last reviewed 25 September 2026
Start with your Support Coordinator, who can search for providers with you. Then look on Housing Hub, which lists disability housing vacancies by area, and on providers' own vacancy pages. Before you call, check the provider is registered for Supported Independent Living (SIL), and have your plan and a clear picture of your support needs ready.

1. Start with your Support Coordinator
If you have Supported Independent Living (SIL) funding, you may also have funding for a Support Coordinator. The NDIS says part of their job is helping you find providers so you can live safely at home. They know which providers are taking referrals, and they can make the first call for you.
If you don’t have a Support Coordinator, you can still look yourself — the steps below are the same.
2. Search Housing Hub
Housing Hub lists disability housing vacancies from providers, and you can search it by area. It’s a good way to see what’s open across Adelaide in one place.
Our own homes are on it too — see Complete Choice on Housing Hub.
3. Check providers’ own vacancy pages
Many providers publish their vacancies on their own websites. Look for a date: a listing that says when availability was last confirmed tells you far more than one that just says “available now”.
Ours are at current SIL vacancies. Each one shows the date it was last checked, real photographs of the home, and the room details we know.
4. Check the provider is registered
From 1 July 2026, providers delivering SIL must be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. You can check any provider on the Commission’s register in a couple of minutes — our guide to SIL provider registration shows you how.
What to have ready
You’ll get further, faster, if you can tell a provider:
- what’s in your plan — whether you have SIL funding, and your plan dates
- how much support you need — day and night, and anything clinical
- where you’d like to live — the area, and what you need nearby
- what the home needs to have — step-free access, a particular bathroom, space for equipment
- who you’d like to live with — and who you wouldn’t
- when you’re hoping to move.
You don’t need every answer before you call. But the more you can say, the quicker a provider can tell you honestly whether a home might suit you.
Then visit
Never decide from photographs alone. See the house, meet the people who live there, and ask your questions. Our guide to questions to ask on a SIL home visit has a checklist you can print and take with you.
